Clients challenge:
Bakkavor Desserts were experiencing high costs from downtime as a result of false fire alarm activations.
Fire Alarm activations were occurring on a regular basis due to wash-down processes necessary for a food production environment.
Project goal:
The goal was to significantly reduce the cost of downtime cause by the Fire Alarm system whilst not compromising on safety.
Solution:
Rhino Fire Control were approached by Bakkavor to make recommendations for replacement Fire Alarm equipment that would not be prone to false alarms from their wash-down processes. Rhino recommended an open-protocol Fire Alarm system that had waterproof call-points, detectors and sounders, and installed these throughout the production areas.
Results:
As a result of the upgrade of Fire Alarm equipment, the false alarms were significantly reduced. This had the following benefits to Bakkavor:

✔ Reduced loss of profit
✔ Less unnecessary attendances from the fire authorities
